New Delhi. People of different fields including folk singer Teesan Bai, cricketer Gautam Gambhir and actor Manoj Bajpayee will be honored with Padma Award. The Central Government has selected Tiion Bai for Padma Vibhushan, whereas Gambhir and Manoj Bajpai have been selected for the Padma Shri. Apart from Tian Bai, Ismail Umar Gulheh, Anil Kumar Manibhai Naik and Balwant Moreshwar Purandare have been selected for Padma Vibhushan. At the same time, 14 people, including Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, will be awarded Padma Shri with 94 people including Padma Bhushan and wrestler Bajrang Punia and footballer Sunil Chhetri. This time the names of 49 thousand 992 people were sent to the Padma Award Committee. This number is 32 times higher than 2010. Then only 1313 nominations were received.
In the year 2017, 35 thousand 595 nominations were received for these awards, out of which 84 were given prizes. In the same way, 18 thousand 768 nominations were received in 2016. Of these, 89 people were awarded the award.
Awards are given in Rashtrapati Bhavan
Under Padma awards, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shree Awards come. Every year on the eve of Republic Day, Padma awards are announced. These awards are given by the Central Government in the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
